چکیده

We describe here an imaging system that uses bioimpedance spectroscopy with multi-electrode array to indicate the state of muscle flap regions under the array. The system is able to differentiate between different health states in the tissue and give early information about the location and size of ischemic sub-regions. The array will be 4*8 electrodes with the spacing of 5mm between the electrodes (the number of electrodes and the spacing may vary). The electrodes are minimally invasive short stainless steel needles, that penetrate 0.3 mm into the tissue with the goal of achieving a wet electric contact. We combine 32 configurations of 4electrode multi-frequency impedance measurements to derive a health-state map for the transplanted flap. The imaging method is tested on a model consisting of 2 tissues and FEM software (Finite Element Method –COMSOL Multiphysics based) is used to conduct the measurements virtually. Dedicated multichannel bioimpedance measurement equipment has already been developed and tested, that cover the frequency range from 100 Hz to 1 MHz.

Bioimpedance spectroscopy tensor probe for anisotropic measurements

The tetrapolar electrode configuration used in bioimpedance suffers from negative sensitivity and is confounded by anisotropic tissue such as blood vessels or muscle and nerve fibres. We propose a circular array of electrodes to focus current directly underneath the probe and provide anisotropy information. We show that an implementation using 16 miniature electrodes is able to outperform the t...

Bioimpedance spectroscopy for the estimation of body fluid volumes in mice.

Conventional indicator dilution techniques for measuring body fluid volume are laborious, expensive, and highly invasive. Bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS) may be a useful alternative due to being rapid, minimally invasive, and allowing repeated measurements. BIS has not been reported in mice; hence we examined how well BIS estimates body fluid volume in mice. Using C57/Bl6 mice, the BIS system d...

Abstract: Nonexcisional, Minimally Invasive Rejuvenation of the Neck Using Radiofrequency Tissue Tightening

MATERIALS AND METHODS: Between 2014 and 2016, thenar fascial flaps and nail bed grafts were used in five patients. All the patients had full-thickness nail bed defects due to machines or door jamming incidents, and the sizes of the defects were more than half of the whole nail bed. We designed the flaps as general thenar flaps, performed suprafascial dissection, and elevated the dermal flaps pr...

The use of minimally invasive techniques in multi-level surgery for children with cerebral palsy: preliminary results.

This study compares the initial outcomes of minimally invasive techniques for single-event multi-level surgery with conventional single-event multi-level surgery. The minimally invasive techniques included derotation osteotomies using closed corticotomy and fixation with titanium elastic nails and percutaneous lengthening of muscles where possible. A prospective cohort study of two matched grou...

Detection of Breast Cancer Cells in Tri-culture Using Impedance Spectroscopy

Impedance spectroscopy is an emerging tool in the analysis of cancer [1-4]. Our goal is to investigate the diagnostic and prognostic capabilities of a MEMS-based micro-bioimpedance sensor. To this end, we report a unique narrow multi-branched electrode system in a micro-cell culture chamber on a silicon chip capable of detecting metastatic human breast cancer cells in a tri-culture comprised of...
